SOUTHOLD - ORIENT - EAST MARION - NORTH FORK BEACHES

The following parks are under the jurisdiction of the Southold Park District, established in 1907. The Southold Park District is in the hamlet of Southold and consists of the Village Fire District excluding the Peconic and Bayview areas, the boundaries of the Southold Park District were originally defined as old school district number five as it existed in 1907. The parks are the private property of residents who reside within the Park District and all who use them are subject to the rules and regulations set forth by the commissioners.

Beaches on the North Fork that DON'T REQUIRE PERMITS can be found on a great list the North Forker has put together. https://northforker.com/2014/08/6-great-north-fork-beaches-that-dont-require-a-town-permit/. For a nominal day, you can enjoy several beaches from Jamesport to Orient Point.

SOUTHOLD PARK DISTRICT TERRY LA & HOBART RD SOUTHOLD 631 765 6019
The Mattituck Park District and beaches are the private property of the residents who reside within the Park District and all who use them are subject to the rules and regulations set forth by the park district commissioner.

Located on the north side of Route 25 (Main Road) as you travel east, just west of the Willow Hill Cemetery. Southold's War Memorial for World War II, Korea, and Vietnam is visible as you drive by. This park is open to the general public for picnics and stretching your legs after a long drive. ​

Located at the end of Hobart road and overlooks Southold Bay. There are picnic tables, swings for the children, a bathroom and lifeguards on duty with a roped-off swimming area. Lifeguard is on duty from July 1st through Labor Day.

Horton's Point Lighthouse Park
Located at the end of Lighthouse Road and was the site selected by George Washington in 1797 for construction of a lighthouse to assist ships sailing from Boston to New York. Currently the Southold Historical Society maintains a nautical museum at the site and the site provides a magnificent view of the Long Island Sound. .

The Orient-East Marion Park District parks and beaches are the private property of the residents who reside within the Park District and all who use them are subject to tht erules and regulations set forth fby the commissioners.

Is located along Peconic Bay Boulevards. The site is developed for a softball field with night-lighting, a parking are, and beach.

PARKING PERMITS
Parking & Disposal Permit Information
PERMIT REQUIRED - RESIDENTS ONLY
Use of Town Boat Ramps or Road Ends Requires Residential Trailer Permit or Commercial Hauler / Launcher Permit Permit Pursuant to Southold Town Code sections 189(G)(1) and 189(H).
Permits are issued on a calendar year basis and are available as early as the first week in December for the upcoming year. Disposal permits are available at the Town Clerk’s office as well as by mail (see mailing instructions below). Parking permits are available at the Town Clerk’s Office and by mail. The Town Clerk’s Office is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Please see our FAQs for specific information.
Parking / Beach Permits
Parking/Beach Permits are necessary to park at Southold Town beaches and road endings that require a Southold Town permit. Certain beaches belong to the park districts and do not come under Southold Town jurisdiction. Please see Guide to North Fork Parks and Beaches for more information on both the town beaches and park district beaches.
Daily parking permits are issued to a specific vehicle for a specific date. Please provide the plate number and the date you plan to use it. These permits may be purchased at the Town Clerk’s Office or at the three town beaches with beach attendants from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. These permits are only valid at the town beaches that also sell them.
NEW SUFFOLK BEACH is located on Jackson Street in New Suffolk and provides lifeguards and beach attendants. A boat launching ramp and ample parking facilities are available by town permit only.
TOWN BEACH is located on the North Road (Route 48) in Southold, overlooking the sound. This is the most used town-owned beach. Facilities include restrooms, playground, a picnic area and a beach wheelchair for disabled patrons. Parking by Southold Town permit only. The beach has lifeguards and beach attendants are on duty during the summer.
Norman E. Klipp Park is located on Manhanset Avenue in Greenport and is also known as Gull Pond Beach. The beach overlooks Shelter Island and contains a large parking area, playground and has lifeguards and beach attendants on duty in the summer. Parking and boat launching by Southold Town permit only.
DISPOSAL PERMITS
Disposal Permits allow entry into the Collection Center to dispose of household garbage which must be in yellow town bags or to dispose of bulk items (you will be weighed on the scale and charged accordingly). If you are disposing of recyclables only, a permit is not necessary. For those who choose not to purchase a disposal permit, a $5 single entry fee can be paid at the Collection Center.
